The Shaneka Solis Foundation was established in memory of a young mother, daughter, sister and dear friend who fought a courageous battle against Breast Cancer. Shaneka was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer in Nov. 2011 at the age of 32. In a short time period she endured two rounds of aggressive Chemo therapy. In April 2012, she traveled to Dana Farber Institute in Boston, MA for a clinical trial. In May, 2012 a tumor was discovered in her brain and in June she underwent a Gamma Knife treatment. Following her Gamma Knife treatment Shaneka believed this ordeal was behind her and she prepared to close this chapter of her life. However, just two months later a routine follow up scan revealed another tumor in her brain. In September, she would undergo 23 straight days of whole brain radiation. In October, she was hospitalized for frequent falls and excrutiating headaches. After spending nearly three weeks in the hospital undergoing numerous test, Shaneka was diagnosed with Leptomeningeal on Nov. 20, 2012. Doctors tried aggressive Chemotherapy treatments but Shaneka passed away just three weeks later on 12/12/12.
